Robbie Williams has announced that he no longer intends to play Angels during his live shows, as he can’t cope with the emotional toll of the iconic track.

The 43-year-old singer is often reduced to tears when fans reveal their own personal connections to the song, which was previously voted as one of the UK’s most popular funeral tracks.

“I have to hold myself together or I could cry at everything and look pathetic”, he told the Daily Star.

“There are people who put posters up before Angels about their mum or dad who died and I think “Oh God, I am going to cry”. It did affect me.

“People want an Under The Radar gig and I will do it”.

He also confirmed that he is gearing up to play rarities for die-hard fans at a series of intimate gigs, after health problems in 2017 forced him to shelve gigs.

“I had blood tests done, and I had various scans including ones of my heart and my brain, and there were some abnormalities found, including something on my brain that looked like blood”, he told The Sun.

“That was obviously very scary, so the decision was taken out of my hands and I was sent straight to the intensive care unit”.
