Is new Vampire Weekend music coming soon?

Vampire Weekend have triggered speculation that new music is on the way by revamping their website.

The New York band – now officially a trio following the 2016 departure of Rostam Batmanglij as a full-time member – have effectively been on hiatus for the past four years, with the band last performing as an active touring unit in 2014 in support of their 2013 LP ‘Modern Vampires of the City’.

It now appears that Vampire Weekend have chosen 2018 as their year to return, with the band kicking things off yesterday (January 31) with the announcement that they would be headlining End of the Road Festival in September – their first gig announcement in over four years.

With the band officially back on the touring circuit, speculation that their return to the stage will also bring about new Vampire Weekend music has moved a step closer to reality today (February 1) with the total revamp of their official website.

All options on the site have been removed to simply leave the band’s name on a white background, along with an updated Sony Music copyright for 2018 at the bottom of the page.

While Batmanglij left the band as a full-time member in 2016, frontman Ezra Koenig confirmed back in December that the multi-instrumentalist would still be contributing to the band’s forthcoming fourth studio album.
