Lorde shares defiant handwritten note following Grammys snub

Lorde has shared a new handwritten note which further addresses the attention which surrounded her appearance at last weekend’s Grammys.

The New Zealand artist had been nominated for Album of the Year for her second studio LP ‘Melodrama’, but lost out to Bruno Mars‘ ’24K Magic’ at Sunday night’s ceremony.

However, Lorde’s appearance at the Grammys drew headlines for her apparent refusal to perform at the ceremony after she was reportedly the only artist nominated in the Album of the Year category not to be offered a solo performance slot by organisers.

After seemingly shading the Grammys organisers in a tweet on Monday (January 29), Lorde has addressed the issue once again in a new handwritten note.

The artist took out a full-page advert in today’s edition of the NZ Herald to share some more thoughts on the ceremony.

“Last night I saw a lot of crazy and wonderful things,” she wrote.

“I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving and embracing ‘Melodrama’ the way you did. My nomination belongs to you

“Thank you, also, for believing in female musicians. You set a beautiful precedent!”

During last weekend’s ceremony, Lorde promoted the work of feminist artist Jenny Holzer by sewing a powerful excerpt of her work into the back of her gown.
