Donald Glover reiterates plans to retire Childish Gambino
 Add to favorites

Donald Glover has confirmed that he will still retire Childish Gambino following the conclusion of his next music project.

Glover initially told fans during a live show last year that the next Gambino album – which will follow his critically-acclaimed 2016 LP ‘”Awaken, My Love!”‘ – would also be the last record to be released under the moniker.

And, despite signing a new record deal with RCA last week and promising that new music is imminent, it appears that Glover is still sticking to his original plan to retire the Gambino name after the next album.

Speaking to reporters last night (January 28) after winning the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his song ‘Redbone’, Glover said that he stood by his decision to bring the curtain down on Childish Gambino.

“I stand by that,” Glover said. “I’m really appreciative of this [Grammy]. I’m making another project right now. But I like endings, I think they’re important to progress.

“I think if a lot of things had death clauses in them we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. I think endings are good because they force things to get better.”

Elsewhere, shooting is currently underway on the second season of Glover’s critically-acclaimed TV show Atlanta.
