Britney Spears adds extra UK date as tickets sell out and appear on eBay for over £1000

Fans were left disappointed today (January 27) when tickets for most of Britney Spears‘ UK tour dates sold out in minutes.

Last week the singer announced she was bringing her ‘Piece of Me’ show to the UK and Ireland, after her four year Las Vegas residency ended on New Year’s Eve.

The tour will see her visit Scarborough, Manchester, Glasgow and London in August, as well as a headline slot at Brighton and Hove’s Pride on August 4.

Fans were frustrated yesterday (January 26) when Live Nation’s site crashed during the pre-sale, and many were left disappointed when most of the remaining tickets sold out within minutes after going on sale this morning.

However, the singer has since announced that she’ll be performing an extra date in London, adding an extra night at The O2 on August 25.

Tickets sold out almost immediately.

At time of writing, there are still a handful of regular seats available at the Glasgow SSE Hydro and Manchester Arena shows – but they’re solo seats so you won’t be able to sit with your pals.

VIP and Platinum tickets are now available for all dates, costing £100s.

Predictably, tickets have appeared on ticket resale sites like StubHub and eBay, with some touts charging over £1000 per ticket.

Understandably, fans aren’t happy at losing out on tickets to bots, and took to social media to voice their disgust.

We should all boycott @TicketmasterUK until they curb selling to ticket touts. Tried three days in a row for Britney sold out in 0.1 seconds

Last year, Foo Fighters issued a statement after hundreds of fans were turned away from their gig at London’s The O2 on September 19, after failing to provide photo ID that matched the tickeholder’s name.

Meanwhile, London’s Islington Assembly Hall became the UK’s first venue to provide tout-proof tickets, going mobile only in a bid to cut out unfair resale.
