A new album by SHINee member Jonghyun is to be released posthumously.

The boyband singer, whose real name was Kim Jong-hyun, died on December 18, 2017 at the age of 27. Reports suggest the cause of death was by suicide.

SHINee’s label SM Entertainment has now announced it will release an album he completed before his death. ‘Poet | Artist’ will be put out on January 23, along with a new music video.

All proceeds from the record will go to Jonghyun’s mother and used to start a foundation to help those living in difficult circumstances, according to the label. In a statement, they said: “Jonghyun loved music more than anyone, and he tried to communicate through that music. We hope that his feelings will be relayed to everyone though this album.”

His former band SHINee will continue, with the four remaining members scheduled to tour Japan next month.

Jonghyun launched his solo career in 2015, while SHINee were on hiatus. When the band reunited in 2017, he was the only original member in the line-up.
