It has been confirmed that Dolores O’Riordan‘s funeral will be held next week.

A private funeral mass will be held at the Church of Saint Ailbe in Ballybricken, County Limerick, on Tuesday 23 January, followed by a family burial.

A public reposal will be held this Sunday, 21 January, at Saint Joseph’s Church in Limerick, starting from 12:30 and going on until 4pm GMT.

The BBC reports that Tuesday’s service is “strictly reserved for extended family and close friends,” and that O’Riordan’s close family friend Canon Liam McNamara will act as chief celebrant of the Requiem Mass.

O’Riordan’s death was announced on Monday (January 15), with a statement reading: “The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time. Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

The Irish singer fronted the band from 1990 to 2003, when they went on hiatus. She was a part of their later reunion in 2009.

The funeral is strictly for family and friends

Earlier today, it was announced that her cause of death is not yet known, with a coroner stating that they are still awaiting results from “various tests”.

Coroner’s officer Stephen Earl issued an update as an inquest opened at Westminster coroner’s court.

Earl revealed that O’Riordan had been found in her hotel room unresponsive on Monday morning and was declared dead at the scene.

He said: “A postmortem examination has now taken place and the court is awaiting the results of various tests that have been commissioned.”

Coroner Shirley Radcliffe adjourned the hearing until April 3, with a date for the full inquest to be set at the time.

Earlier this week, O’Riordan’s bandmates paid tribute to the Irish singer on Twitter, writing: “We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today. Noel, Mike and Fergal.”
