"I always considered that a great compliment," the ever-modest President noted

Donald Trump has claimed that people used to say he looked like Elvis Presley when he was growing up.

Visiting Tupelo, Mississippi yesterday (November 26), Trump took the opportunity of visiting Presley’s birthplace as an excuse to recall a questionable anecdote.

The Wall Street Journal journalist Ken Thomas was one of the first to note the President’s latest claim: “Other than the blonde hair, when I was growing up they said I looked like Elvis… I always considered that a great compliment. We love Elvis.”

Video footage of Trump making the Elvis comparison – which drew plenty of laughs – while addressing a rally of his supporters in Tupelo has since been uploaded online – check it out below.

President Trump: "I shouldn't say this. You'll say I'm very conceited, 'cause I'm not. But other than the blond hair, when I was growing up, they said I looked like Elvis."

Earlier this month, Presley was posthumously awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom by Trump.

In a statement, a White House spokesperson explained Presley had been chosen to receive the award because he “defined American culture to billions of adoring fans around the world. Fusing gospel, country, and rhythm and blues, [he created] a sound all his own.”

“America is blessed to have the most skill, passion, and talent anywhere on Earth,” Trump said. “We are truly a great nation and we are a nation that is doing really, really well right now.”

Presley was also named as one of the highest-earning dead celebrities in a list of earnings which was published earlier this month.
