The two American icons will appear together on the same bill

Bob Dylan and Neil Young will appear as co-headliners at next year’s British Summer Time Hyde Park in 2019.

The first announcement so far for British Summer Time, Dylan and Young will headline on Friday July 12 with more acts expected to be announced for the line up soon.

James King, the Senior Vice President of AEG Presents said: “being able to bring together two of the biggest cultural icons together for this historic day of music counts as possibly the biggest event we have ever delivered in Hyde Park.”

Tickets for the event go on general sale at 9am on November 30 and you can buy tickets for the event here. Meanwhile, Barclaycard customers can take part in a pre-sale today (November 27), from 9am.

Both Dylan and Young have a long shared history, with both having shared the stage together several times previously. Speaking about Young in 1972, Dylan told Uncut magazine that he was annoyed by Young’s classic hit, ‘Heart of Gold’.

Dylan said: “The only time it bothered me that someone sounded like me was when I was living in Phoenix, Arizona, in about ’72 and the big song at the time was ‘Heart of Gold’. I used to hate it when it came on the radio. I always liked Neil Young, but it bothered me every time I listened to ‘Heart of Gold’. I think it was up at number one for a long time, and I’d say, “Shit, that’s me. If it sounds like me, it should as well be me.”

In 2005, Young told Time magazine that he was a “B” student of Bob Dylan. “I’ll never be Bob Dylan…he’s the master. If I’d like to be anyone, it’s him.”

Recently, Neil Young confirmed his marriage to Daryl Hannah after months of speculation. The announcement came just days before Young criticised Donald Trump for his response to the California wildfires.

Dylan, meanwhile, recently made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show, without saying a word. The American legend was appearing on the show to advertise his new whiskey line, but left without speaking.

Since launching in 2013, British Summer Time has seen some of the world’s biggest acts taking to the Hyde Park show, with the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Strokes, The Cure, The Killers and more having previously played their own headline shows at the event.
