The Bristol punks will take 'Joy As An Act Of Resistance' on the road once more next year

IDLES have announced a huge world tour for 2019, including new UK dates and their first ever shows in Australia.

The Bristol band will hit the road again next year in support of their second album ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance‘, which charted at Number Five in the Official UK Albums Chart upon its release in August.

IDLES will begin their 2019 dates by heading to Australia and New Zealand in January. They will then return to UK venues in March and April before heading to Europe and the US.

They’ll be joined in the UK by London-based punk band Crows, while Hull’s Life will support them in Europe. Dublin group Fontaines D.C. will accompany them on their American dates.

Whatever this is, we promise to maintain it with vigour. Put your loving shoes on and we will do the rest **

Meanwhile, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker recently discussed his love for IDLES with NME. In a new interview, the screenwriter said: “Apart from anything else, they’re funny,” he said. “There is something about positive punk that I thought, ‘Why hasn’t..? Hold on, that’s a new thing, isn’t it? How comes no one’s done that?'”

He continued: “If you listen to a song like ‘Danny Nedelko’ or ‘Television’, [singer Joe Talbot is] so fucking angry about being positive. He’s so furiously happy – so furiously positive in the way he shouts, ‘Unity!’ He shouts ‘Unity!’ through gritted teeth and there’s something very life-affirming about that.”
