Vicky Cornell argues that her late husband was prescribed too many drugs

Chris Cornell‘s widow, Vicky Cornell, is suing the late singer’s doctor for malpractice.

The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman was found dead in his hotel room on May 17, 2017 aged 52. A toxicology report revealed that various prescription drugs were in his system at the time of his death.

Now, according to TMZ, Vickey Cornell and her two children are suing Dr. Robert Koblin for malpractice.

She claims hat he prescribed 940 doses of the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam (aka Ativan) as well as Oxycodone during the last 20 months of Cornell’s life without examining the singer.

The lawsuit claims that Chris Cornell was known as an “addiction-prone individual.” Vicky Cornell argues that despite knowing this, the doctor took no steps to protect him, adding that Chris’ therapist for his substance abuse referred him to Dr. Koblin.

The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Koblin never warned Chris about the dangers of suicide nor other side effects of long-term Lorazepam use.

The suit also claims that Dr. Koblin permitted non-physician staff to write hundreds of Lorazepam prescriptions without showing any medical necessity or providing any monitoring.

Earlier this month, the surviving members of Soundgarden spoke about the future of the band.

In the interview, the band hinted that they may perform together in the future. Cameron said: “We’re just still taking our time and giving ourselves space to process everything…We would certainly love to try to continue to do something, figure out something to do together.”

Shepherd added: “On a personal level…we haven’t even gotten a chance to hang out, just us three, yet… We’re going through natural healing, then thinking about the natural next step.”

In September, Cornell’s estate announced a new career-spanning box set will be released later this year.

The 62-track release will feature solo work from the artist as well as tracks by Temple Of The Dog, Soundgarden, and Audioslave.
