The Turning Point USA spokeswoman wants African-Americans to leave the Democratic Party

Kanye West has designed a range of shirts supporting right-wing commentator Candace Owens’ “black exit” campaign.

Owens, founder of Red Pill Black and Turning Point USA communications director, is leading a campaign for African-Americans to leave the Democratic Party.

Some of West’s shirts feature the word “blexit” – a play on “black exit” reportedly inspired by Brexit. Others say: “We free.” The designs were revealed at the Young Black Leadership Summit in Washington D.C. yesterday (October 27), where Owens also spoke.

“Blexit is a renaissance and I am blessed to say that this logo, these colours, were created by my dear friend and fellow superhero, Kanye West,” she said. “He has taken one of the boldest steps in America to open a conversation we have needed to have.”

West caused controversy earlier this year when he tweeted his support for Owens, saying he “loves the way Candace Owens thinks.” The pair later met in person, along with right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk.

Earlier this week, West donated $73,540 (£57,368) to Chicago mayoral candidate Amara Enyia. The politician, who has also been backed by Chance The Rapper, is a member of the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, West has reportedly submitted a song for recognition in two rock music categories at next year’s Grammy Awards.

The rapper is said to have put forward a track from his joint album with Kid Cudi, ‘Kids See Ghosts’. ‘Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt. 2)’ has been submitted for consideration in the categories of Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song.
