Florida metal band are currently in the middle of a US tour

Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has quit the band’s current US tour to attend the birth of his wife’s baby twins.

The band still have seven shows of their North American jaunt remaining, but Heafy has taken to Instagram to explain that he had to get back to his wife.

In a video message, which you can watch below, Heafy said: “I just had to fly back unexpectedly home to Orlando. As you know, my wife and I are expecting twins, and as you also know with pregnancy, there are no definitive answers on when things are happening, especially when it’s two. So I had to get back. I took an emergency flight to get back home. I’m home now. We’re basically just on watch.”

In his absence, Trivium will play the remainder of their North American US tour with the assistance of former Killswitch Engage and current Light The Torch frontman Howard Jones, YouTube comedian/musician Jared Dines and Avatar frontman Johannes Eckerström.

Heafy continued: “It’s very weird for me to be on the best North American tour of my career, and then to have to fly home. The plan was, obviously, to do the entire thing, but, thankfully, right now Howard Jones, Jared Dines and Johannes are all working together with Paolo [Gregoletto, bass], Corey [Beaulieu, guitar] and Alex [Bent, drums] to make the set happen. And I truly believe that you guys are gonna get a once-in-a-lifetime show and I’m so upset to be missing it. But I was able to share the stage with Howard and Jared, and then share a souncheck with Johannes, and I know that the set’s gonna be absolutely incredible.”

Trivium’s remaing tour dates are:

Oct 28 – Vancouver, BC – Commodore Ballroom Oct 29 – Seattle, WA – Showbox SODO Oct 30 – Portland, OR – Crystal Ballroom Oct 31 – Spokane, WA – Knitting Factory Nov 02 – Anaheim, CA – House of Blues Nov 03 – Berkeley, CA – UC Theatre

Meanwhile, the band are due to play Download Festival in 2019 alongside the likes of Slipknot, Tool, Def Leppard, Slash, Die Antwoord, Whitesnake and Rob Zombie.

Download Festival takes place from June 14-16 at Donington Park. Tickets are on sale at 2018 prices until November 6 and are available here.
