The rapper made an explosive 10-minute speech in front of reporters during the meeting

Kanye West has met with Donald Trump at The White House in Washington D.C. today (October 11) in the rapper’s latest show of endorsement of the President.

West – who was wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat – met Trump in the Oval Office of The White House, with discussion between the rapper, the President and the former NFL player Jim Brown taking place during a working lunch which was set to focus on such topics as urban revitalisation, new workforce training programs, and more.

Members of the press were invited into The Oval Office prior to the lunch, where West hugged Trump and later proceeded to give a 10-minute-long speech.

“He might not expect to have a crazy motherfucker like Kanye West support him,” West said of his support for Trump. He also said he wouldn’t consider running for President in 2020, but hinted that he might be open to the idea in 2024.

Q: is he a future presidential candidate?

Trump: “Could very well be.”

Kanye: “Only after, 2024.”

“We have to bring jobs into America because our best export is entertainment and ideas, but when we make everything in China and not America we are cheating our country,” West said at one point. He also claimed that he had previously been mis-diagnosed with bipolar disorder, saying that he had instead been sleep-deprived.

After he finished speaking, Trump remarked: “That was quite something.” West replied: “It was from the soul. I just channelled it.”

West had been tipped by some early reports to be present at the signing of the Music Modernization Act into law, which Trump conducted earlier today (October 11). However, West was a no-show at the ceremony – which was instead attended by such artists as Kid Rock, Beach Boys’ Mike Love, and the Recording Academy President Neil Portnow.

This is a developing story and it will continue to be updated.

Elsewhere, a poem written about Kanye West by the late Leonard Cohen prior to his death has emerged this month in a new posthumous collection.
