The band also covered Tom Petty, MC5, The Stooges and more in their set

Pearl Jam covered a rare Chris Cornell track during their Seattle show last night (August 10), alongside a handful of other grunge covers.

The Eddie Vedder-fronted band performed two shows at the city’s Safeco Field this week and treated fans to covers of The White Stripes, Neil Young, Brandi Carlile, and The Beatles at Wednesday’s gig (August 8).

Pearl Jam included ‘Missing’ in their set last night, which Cornell wrote for the 1992 film Singles and later released on his ‘Poncier’ EP. Later in the show, Cornell’s Soundgarden bandmate Kim Thayil joined the group onstage to perform covers of MC5‘s ‘Kick Out The Jams’, The Stooges‘ ‘Search And Destroy’, and more.

Elsewhere, Vedder started the first of two encores by performing a solo rendition of Tom Petty‘s I Won’t Back Down’, while the penultimate track of the night was a full band cover of The Who‘s ‘Baba O’Riley’.

Meanwhile, the band recently released their own limited edition red wine, which sold out in a record-breaking time of 12 minutes.

Only 450 boxes were made of the special Home X Away wine, which featured images of landmarks from the four stops on their tour of the same name – Seattle, Chicago, Boston, and Missoula, Montana. Each box was priced at $150 (£118) and contained four bottles.

Earlier this year, a giant Donald Trump balloon made to protest the US President’s visit to the UK made an appearance outside Pearl Jam’s London gig. The band gave their blessing for the balloon to be displayed outside The O2.
