The rapper will curate the line-up for the inaugural edition of his own one-day festival

Travis Scott has announced the inaugural Astroworld Festival, to take place later this year.

The rapper released his album ‘ASTROWORLD‘ last week (August 3). In a five-star review, NME said: “This is the sound of a musician who has worked to forge an entire world, an empire, around himself – we can peer in, but from afar, guessing at his motives and life behind the velvet rope.”

Astroworld Festival will take place in Scott’s hometown of Houston, Texas on November 17. Based at the city’s NRG Park, it will be located across the street from the now-defunct AstroWorld amusement park.

The line-up will be curated by the star, who has promised to book some of the biggest acts in the US, as well as rising artists. The full bill is expected to be announced soon, but one act has already been confirmed to appear – Scott, who will headline the one-day event.

In a statement, David Stromberg, Cactus Jack Records’ General Manager and Scott’s manager, said the festival’s aim was to bring “well-deserved recognition” to Houston. “H-Town has an incredible, rich cultural history and we look forward to showcasing to residents from Travis’ own backyard and across the globe what makes this city so special,” he said.

Early bird and VIP tickets are available to purchase now, priced at $89 (£70) and $250 (£196), for those who sign up at the Astroworld site. Tickets go on general sale on Monday (August 13).

Meanwhile, one fan is suing Osheaga Festival after Scott’s headline set last weekend (August 3) started nearly an hour-and-a-half late.

The rapper was arrived late at the Montreal weekender after being delayed at the Canadian border. Fan Megan Le Stum said in her class action suit that promoter Evenko had a responsibility to respect the announced schedule.
