Kanye West goes silent after Jimmy Kimmel challenges him over Trump support

He also opened up on all things 'Ye', and his own mental health battles.

Kanye West‘s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! proved unexpectedly political last night, after the talk show host challenged him over his support of Donald Trump.

The ‘Ye’ star was seemingly stunned into silence, and failed to answer Kimmel as he questioned whether Kanye’s support of Trump was at odds with his infamous criticism of George W.Bush’s Presidency.

“Whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter. You so famously and so powerfully said ‘George Bush doesn’t care about black people.’”, Kimmel told West.

“It makes me wonder, what makes you think that Donald Trump does?”

But Kanye was left mulling over his answer, with Kimmel eventually taking the show to a commercial break before he had the opportunity to respond.

After the break, the conversation then turned to the vast lyrical content of latest album ‘Ye’.

Kimmel singled out ‘I Thought About Killing You’, in which Kanye admits that his mental health struggles have led him to previously consider killing wife Kim Kardashian.

Describing his struggles, Kanye said: “It’s important for us to have open conversations about mental health,”

“We never had therapists in the black community”.

The appearance also allowed him to elaborate on his controversial comments earlier this year that saw him describing US slavery as a “choice”.

“‘What was awesome is the world got to really experience someone in a ramped-up state”, he admitted.

“And that’s when you get these comments that just shoot out, almost like Tourette’s.’
