The band will begin working on it after their North American tour

The Jesus and Mary Chain have confirmed that they’ll be working on their new album later this year.

The band are gearing up for their tour with Nine Inch Nails, which kicks off on September 13 and runs until December 12.

Once the shows are done, Jesus and Mary Chain lead singer Jim Reid says the band will begin working on their next record. “We’re thinking of doing a new album soon after this tour,” he told COS. “I reckon that will be the next thing we do.

“We work best with a deadline because we are the laziest people you can imagine,” he added. Reid said that the new LP will be “mostly new,” but there will be “some songs we’ve had knocking about for awhile.” You can see the Jesus and Mary Chain dates with Nine Inch Nails below.

Earlier this month, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor recalled a near-death experience on a plane after Coachella.

The frontman explained how he was sat with the band’s most recent member Atticus Ross when the plane suddenly plummeted.

“Bassnectar was on the flight too and I remember him sitting next to me and I wasn’t sure who he was at first. But when you have a near death experience on a plane, that changes everything.”

Reznor and Bassnectar gripped each other’s hands throughout the sharp vertical drop.

“We may have been holding hands by the time we regained altitude,” he went on, noting, “I never used to be conscious of it but now I’m aware that I’m in a flying tin can of potential death every time I step onto a plane.”
