Slash on new Guns N’ Roses album chances: ‘I think everybody wants to do it’

It would be Slash's first album with the band in decades

Slash has indicated that a new Guns N’ Roses album is on the cards, speaking in a new interview with Eddie Trunk on his Sirius XM show Trunk Nation.

The legendary guitarist said of a potential new GN’R LP: “It’s been talked about. I think everybody wants to do it, and we’ll just see what happens. We’ve been busy doing this running around the planet.”

It would be the band’s first album since the infamous Chinese Democracy, which took 25 years to record and was released in 2008. Slash, and bassist and fellow founding member Duff McKagan, had left the band in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

The last album on which Slash appeared was 1993’s covers album The Spaghetti Incident. Subsequently Axl Rose was the only original member of the band left until the Slash and McKagan rejoined in 2016.

The so-called ‘classic’ Guns N’ Roses line-up returned in 2016 to headline Coachella, before embarking on their colossal Not In This Lifetime Tour, which is still ongoing.

They hit UK shores this summer, with a headline set at Download Festival along with two London Stadium shows with The Kills and Tyler Bryant.

Earlier this year the band re-issued their classic 1987 debut Appetite For Destruction , but saw the release embroiled in controversy after the track ‘One In A Million’ was omitted from the new version.

The song drew heavy criticism for featuring the lyrics “Police and n****rs, that’s right / Get outta my way / Don’t need to buy none of your / Gold chains today,” as well as “immigrants and faggots / They make no sense to me / They come to our country / And think they’ll do as they please / Like start some mini-Iran / Or spread some fucking disease”
