The winners will receive £20,000, with the awards ceremony set to take place next month at Paisley Town Hall

The 20 nominees for the 2018 Scottish Album of the Year prize have been announced, with the longlist recognising the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Young Fathers and Mogwai.

The ceremony for the prestigious prize – which offers a £20,000 award to the winning artist – will take place at Paisley Town Hall on September 6. The 2017 award was won by Sacred Paws for their record ‘Strike a Match’.

The announcement of the longlist of nominees for the 2018 Scottish Album of the Year has now been made, with a panel of 100 judges now tasked with shortening the list down to just nine final nominees – with one further nominee then being determined by public vote.
