Happy Days.

Having recently kicked off the latest summer leg of their tour, Weezer have been using the opening of the show to recreate their iconic video to their classic single ‘Buddy Holly’. Check out footage from the show below.

Proceedings begin with the Happy Days theme tune, before the character Al Molinaro tells the crowd: “Okay, kids, Arnold’s is proud to present Kenosha, Wisconsin’s own Weezer!”

The curtain then drops to show the stage dressed like Al’s Diner as in their 1994 video, with the band dressed in full 1950’s preppy gear.

The band have also recently made headlines during their cultural exchange with classic rockers Toto. Weezer delighted fans by covering the legendary ‘Africa’ and then promising to release it on vinyl. In response, Toto will be dropping a cover of Weezer’s ‘Hash Pipe‘.

Singer/guitarist Steve Lukather and keyboardist Steve Porcaro announced the news during an appearance on Los Angeles’ KROQ on Friday (July 29). Asked why they decided to go with the ‘Green Album’ song, Porcaro said they originally wanted to cover Weezer’s ‘Beverly Hills’.

“I thought ‘Hash Pipe’ had a better melody,” Lukather said. “I love the message, you know what I mean?… And we wanted to do it justice.

“We wanted to do our thing to it, but still pay respect to it. And we added a couple of our kitschy little things to it, which I hope that they laugh [at]. We wish we could be in the room when they hear it.”
