Could this be a new album or a tour?

Aphex Twin fans are growing excited around his upcoming return after some teaser artwork appeared on the London Underground.

The electronic pioneer’s last album ‘Syro’ was released in 2014 to great critical acclaim and was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. The album was 13 years in the making following 2001’s ‘Drukqs’ – but in now seems that fans may not have to wait quite so long for another new album, with striking 3D teaser artwork baring Aphex Twin’s logo appearing at Elephant & Castle tube station.

Fans are now imminently awaiting news after the artist urged fans to keep an eye on his official website earlier this month:

This comes after an extensive new BBC Radio Four documentary ‘The Cult Of Aphex Twin‘ was aired earlier this month.

Aphex Twin last released new material in the form of 2016’s ‘Cheetah’. In a three-star review, NME said of the record: “‘Cheetah’ isn’t bad, but it could be the work of a lesser producer. In this respect at least, Aphex Twin remains an enigma. After all, you don’t come out of retirement to be ordinary.”

In support of the album, the musician performed at last year’s Field Day festival. The show marked his first live appearance in five years.
