The guitarist said he has "an excess of" the instrument

Foo Fighters‘ Chris Shiflett is selling his personal guitar collection online.

The musician joined Dave Grohl‘s band in 1999 after Pat Smear had left the line-up. Shiflett is also a member of Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, while he was in No Use For A Name until the band split in 2012.

Shiflett is aiming to streamline his guitar collection and is giving fans the opportunity to buy some of his instruments, starting later this week. In a video detailing the sale, which will take place on Reverb.com, the guitarist said: “I have an excess of guitars that I’ve gotten over the years — I have more than I could even really play, and more than I do play. A lot of them sit around in our studio gathering dust.”

He continued: “It would be fun to see these things find a home elsewhere, where somebody’s going to actually play them and put scratches on them. I’m going to take these 20 guitars and turn them into two guitars. That’s kind of my plan.”

Among the guitars for sale will be a 2002 Gibson Firebird V Reissue used in Foo Fighters’ ‘All My Life’ video, a Gretsch Brian Setzer Signature Black Phoenix, and the first Fender Chris Shiflett Signature Telecaster Deluxe Prototype. The sale will begin on July 19.

Meanwhile, Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet has been performing with Foo Fighters on their current North American tour. Introducing her on stage at one show, the frontman told the crowd: “That’s right. That little lady can sing.”
