Jonny Greenwood releases new music titled ’88 (No.1)’

Jonny Greenwood has released the sheet music for one of his original compositions. This one is titled ’88 (No.1)’ and was originally written in 2015.

The release marks the first time the music has been available for public performance after having been performed by a handful of selected pianists in the past.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Greenwood wrote, “New piano music on paper out today. It’s inspired by Glen Gould, and by the glorious mechanics of the thing. @kat_tinker (who played this version first) @JRhodesPianist (the only other pianist I follow). Meanwhile, Greenwood stopped by ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ last night with his band Junun. They performed their self-titled track, with Greenwood on bass and composer Shye Ben Tzur on guitar and vocals.

The band are currently opening up for Radiohead during their North American tour, which runs until August 1 and includes four consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden. You can see the remaining tour dates below.

Radiohead have played some rare tracks at previous shows on this tour. Last week (July 7), they played their unused Bond theme ‘Spectre’ live for first time at Chicago’s United Center, while the night before, they treated fans to a rendition of ‘Blow Out’.
