Del the Funky Homosapien was performing on 'Clint Eastwood' when he took a tumble

Gorillaz were forced to bring their Roskilde performance to a premature end last night (July 7) after their rapper Del the Funky Homosapien fell from the stage.

The Damon Albarn-fronted band, who recently released their new album ‘The Now Now’, were performing at the event in Denmark. Other acts appearing across the weekend included Eminem, Bruno Mars, Nick Cave, David Byrne, and Dua Lipa.

As the animated outfit played their 2001 hit ‘Clint Eastwood’, the rapper was seen falling from the stage. The show then came to a close, with Albarn telling the crowd: “Thanks for a beautiful evening.”

Following the incident, the festival elaborated by releasing a statement on their social channels.

“One of the Gorillaz artists, Del the Funky Homosapien, fell unfortunate from the stage during the last number of Gorillaz’ concert,” it reads. “He was seen on site by a doctor and went to the hospital for further investigation.”

They added that the musician was “conscious and talking to his team”, before wishing him a “speedy recovery”.

The rapper later responded, posting: “Thank you all for the love! I’m doing alright but will be in the hospital for a bit, the care here is outstanding though. Much love to @gorillaz for having me out and I’ll be back soon yall”.

NME were onsite reviewing the Danish festival. The weekend had a sweaty start with a show from Slaves, before St. Vincent bewitched the crowd with a healthy dose of axe-shredding. Headline performances came from Bruno Mars and Eminem.

Meanwhile, Gorillaz performed at Open’er Festival on Thursday (July 6).
