Drizzy's double album is doing the business

Drake has shared a new freestyle as his latest album ‘Scorpion‘ continues to break records.

‘Scorpion’ was released last month (June 29) and clocked in at 25 tracks. In a three-star review, NME said: “‘Scorpion’ sounds like Drake knowing that he’s won, cynically deciding not to challenge himself. Sure, the crown is still his, but to quote Drake’s own words on this album: “Is there more?”

Before launching into the freestyle, Drake gave grime MC Giggs a shout out, saying: “Shout out Giggs for setting the ting.” The new rap saw the Canadian rapper referencing Coachella, Toronto, and his 2016 album ‘Views‘. Watch it below.

Double album ‘Scorpion’ has already broken several records since its release. The LP surpassed 132 million streams on Spotify and 170 million streams on Apple Music in its first day of release. Now it has been confirmed to be the first album to clock over 1 billion streams worldwide.

Post Malone‘s ‘Beer Bongs & Bentleys’ previously held the record, achieving 700 million global streams.

Meanwhile, a number of Spotify users have requested refunds from the streaming platform after Drake was heavily promoted across the service on ‘Scorpion”s release. The star’s picture was used on many of Spotify’s playlists, even on ones that didn’t include his music.

Premium subscribers argued that the over the top promotion amounted to advertising. Paying for a premium subscription removes adverts from the service.
