Truck Festival has renamed itself as Gareth Southgate Festival

For as long as England are in the World Cup, anyway

Truck Festival have temporarily rebranded their 2018 event as Gareth Southgate Festival.

The Oxfordshire festival, which this year will be held from July 20-22, is paying homage to the England manager’s current success at the World Cup in Russia with the name change. Following their victory over Colombia on penalties earlier this week, Southgate’s side will now face Sweden on Saturday (July 7) for a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Referencing Baddiel & Skinner and The Lightning Seeds’ resurgent anthem ‘Three Lions’, Truck made the bold – but tongue-in-cheek – move to rename their festival in Southgate’s honour following England’s victory on Tuesday night (July 3).

We're changing the name of our festival to celebrate the fact football is definitely on its way home

Fans have been getting on board with the name change, which looks likely to stay in place for as long as England are still in the tournament. Truck have even mocked up a logo which reflects their affection for Southgate.

Truck – sorry, Gareth Southgate – Festival will be headlined this year by Friendly Fires, George Ezra and Courteeners. Tickets are still available, which you can find here.

NME have compiled a playlist of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s favourite songs – based on his tweets from a number of years ago, of course.
