'Growing Up Cobain' will include items never seen by the public

Kurt Cobain‘s personal belongings will go on display at a new exhibition next month.

The Museum of Style Icons in Ireland will feature the ‘Growing Up Cobain’ exhibit from July 19. Items to be displayed include the striped jumper that the Nirvana frontman sported in the iconic ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ video, old photographs, and childhood drawings.

His daughter Frances Bean Cobain and mother Wendy O’Connor are said to be attending the opening day.

“I have always been the most intimately informed of who my father was by my grandmother and aunts,” Frances Bean told Reuters. “I am so ecstatic that their view of who Kurt was gets to be celebrated with Nirvana fans the world over.”

Some items have never been seen by the public before.

The exhibit will be open until mid-September.

The announcement follows news that a Kurt Cobain exhibition in Washington was destroyed by a fire. Personal items – including original artwork – were on show at the Aberdeen Armory in the US capital. Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselić shared footage of the fire, saying: “This is terrible. Hope people are safe.”

Meanwhile, it was reported last month that Courtney Love is being sued by Frances Bean’s ex-husband’s ex-girlfriend. Jessica Sullivan has apparently filed a suit for stalking and emotional distress.
