The Cure’s Robert Smith on Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison: ‘I feel like I knew him’
 Add to favorites

The Cure‘s Robert Smith has paid tribute to power of Frightened Rabbit‘s Scott Hutchison’s songwriting, after the frontman’s tragic death last month.

Frightened Rabbit were among the bands hand-picked for the Robert Smith-curated Meltdown Festival. In a new interview, Smith has spoken of his sadness at Hutchison’s passing.

“It’s awful. They were one of the bands that I was really, really looking forward to seeing,” Smith told Time Out. “I’ve been listening to them for ten years. I’ve never met him, but I feel I know him because of his voice.”

Recent tributes have also come from The National dedicating ‘About Today‘ to the frontman at recent festivals, while friends and collaborators The Twilight Sad have been performing a cover of Frightened Rabbit’s ‘Keep Yourself Warm‘.

After Frightened Rabbit cancelled their own festival ‘The First Incident’ last month, many fans have been giving donations to the Scottish Association For Mental Health – which you can give to here.
