Last night saw Smashing Pumpkins deliver their first performance since reforming with the majority of their ‘classic’ line-up. Check it out below.

Taking to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the rock veterans delivered a rousing rendition of new single ‘Solara’ as well as the classic ‘Zero’ from ‘Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness’.

In their current incarnation consisting of Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and Jeff Schroeder along with touring bassist Jack Bates, this was their debut public performance ahead of their ‘Shiny Oh So Bright’ US tour. The only missing member is original bassist D’Arcy Wretzky (as their bitter feud continues).

‘Solara’ is taken from the upcoming release of three EPs of new material. The eight tracks recorded (titled ‘Alienation’, ‘Travels’, ‘Silvery Sometimes’, ‘Solara’, ‘With Sympathy’, ‘Marchin’ On’, ‘Knights of Malta’, ‘Seek And You Shall Destroy’) were produced by Rick Rubin and are said to have a ‘classic’ Pumpkins sound.

While relations show no sign of improving between the band and former bassist D’Arcy Wretzky, the band are about to kick off a busy summer of activity. As well as their US tour, the band have also announced details of a ‘1979 House Party’ in Los Angeles on June 28.

Details of UK and European tour dates are expected to follow shortly.
