Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s new album samples Kurt Cobain

A track on Kanye West and Kid Cudi‘s new album ‘Kids See Ghosts’ has apparently sampled a Kurt Cobain song.

The duo’s new collaborative record is the latest to emerge from West’s recent studio sessions in Wyoming, which has already yielded Pusha-T’s ‘Daytona’ album and West’s latest effort ‘ye’ – the latter came out just last week (June 1).

While ‘Kids See Ghosts’ is still yet to drop on any of the major streaming platforms, last night’s listening party in LA gave many fans their first listen to the new album. For those not in attendance at the LA premiere yesterday, ‘Kids See Ghosts’ could be heard through an official broadcast on the WAV app.

As Pitchfork reports, the record’s closing song, ‘Cudi Montage’, prominently samples Cobain’s track ‘Burn The Rain’.

That song was recorded as a solo acoustic demo by the late Nirvana frontman, and was only released posthumously in 2015 as part of the soundtrack of the Cobain film Montage of Heck. Listen to ‘Burn The Rain’ below.

West has supplemented the release of ‘ye’ this week with a string of ‘Project Wyoming’ listening parties – here’s what happened at the first two events, which were held concurrently in Chicago and Miami.

The third and final ‘Project Wyoming’ party was held in Brooklyn last night (June 7).
