 Add to favorites

A new Arctic Monkeys BBC special will air tomorrow (June 8).

The band will be the latest to be the subject of an At The BBC show, following in the footsteps of the likes of Adele, Sam Smith, Harry Styles and U2, amongst others.

Posting on their official Twitter page, Arctic Monkeys wrote: “Tune in to @BBCR1 tonight at 7pm BST for our ‘Live At The BBC Special’. It will be televised tomorrow, 8 June at 11:05pm BST on @BBCTwo.”

The news follows a petition from fans for the group to be given a BBC special earlier this year. After sixth album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino‘ was announced, one fan started a Change.org petition, which read: “With the release of Arctic Monkeys’ sixth album approaching, it’s time for the BBC to celebrate one of the finest British bands of the 21st century at their peak in a one-hour television special.”

It continued to say the format of At The BBC specials would “be the perfect opportunity to showcase Arctic Monkeys and the top quality British songwriting of Alex Turner to a national audience.” The petition gained the support of drummer Matt Helders’ father, who shared the link and a campaign poster on his Instagram page.

Arctic Monkeys are due to perform their first UK concert since the release of ‘Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino’ tonight (June 7). They will play at London’s Royal Albert Hall with support from Cameron Avery. The show is in aid of charity War Child.
