Spandau Ballet are reportedly replacing Tony Hadley with a 28-year-old Elvis Presley impersonator, after the lead singer departed last year.

Vocalist Ross William Wild will join the group after he initially met bassist Martin Kemp when they appeared together in the Million Dollar Quartet stage show.

Wild is set to make his debut next week at a intimate Spandau Ballet show at London’s Subterania club, alongside Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble.

The group have also shared a brief video clip which hints at Wild’s introduction into the group.

Announcing his departure last year, Hadley said: ” Due to circumstances beyond my control, it is with deep regret that I am required to state that I am no longer a member of the band Spandau Ballet and as such I will not be performing with the band in the future.”

Although remaining cryptically vague about the reasons for his departure, the group later claimed that Hadley wanted to focus on his solo work.

According to guitarist Gary Kemp, Hadley broke the news to his bandmates when the group were in Hong Kong wrapping up their last world tour.

“He didn’t want to do it anymore,” Kemp explained.

“As far as he was concerned he just wanted to do his solo work.”

Asked if the door would be open for Tony to return, drummer Keeble answered immediately, “no”.
