Avicii representatives respond to rumours of posthumous album
 Add to favorites

A spokesman representing Avicii‘s music team has downplayed rumours that a posthumous album of unreleased material is on the way – but suggested that it may arrive eventually.

Last month, Avicii died after taking his own life. He was just 28-years-old.

Reports emerged earlier this week from Swedish outlet Aftenbladet that a posthumous album was on the horizon, with sources claiming that “the musician’s family ha[s] met with record company representatives and partners” and that “they agreed that an album will be released by the end of the year.”

Now however, representatives from Avicii’s team have said that this was “just a rumour”, and that “at this moment we do not have concrete plans about the release of the material.”

Earlier this week, it emerged that a funeral for Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, will be open only to those closest to him.

“There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii,” his family wrote. “The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”

Halsey and The Chainsmokers paid tribute to the DJ at the Billboard Music Awards at the weekend.

“His passing was a great loss for the music world and for us. He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways and simply put he meant so much to us and so many in the EDM community”, The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart said as he handed out the award for Top Hot 100 Song.
