Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison honoured with mural in Glasgow
 Add to favorites

Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison has been remembered with a mural in Glasgow.

Hutchison passed away earlier this month at the age of 36. Tributes have been paid by fellow music stars including Frank Turner, Biffy Clyro, Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and more. In a statement, the Scottish band has said the singer “leaves a legacy of hope, kindness and colour that will forever be remembered and shared”.

Now, artist Michael Corr has painted a mural of Selkirk-born Hutchison near the Riverside museum in Glasgow. “After last week’s news about Scott, I wanted to make something to pay tribute to him,” Corr explained.

The artist has since revealed that the work will go on display at Glasgow’s Barras Art and Design from Tuesday (May 22) to Sunday (May 27).

Following news of the musician’s death, Hutchison’s family described him in a statement as “passionate, articulate and charismatic, as well as being one of the funniest and kindest people we knew” and “wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend”.

“Depression is a horrendous illness that does not give you any alert or indication as to when it will take hold of you,” the statement added.

“Scott battled bravely with his own issues for many years and we are immensely proud of him for being so open with his struggles.”

“His willingness to discuss these matters in the public domain undoubtedly raised awareness of mental health issues and gave others confidence and belief to discuss their own issues.”
