Florence and the Machine performed their latest track ‘Hunger’ live last night (May 17).

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Welch and co. performed the track from their upcoming album ‘High as Hope’, with Florence leaving the stage to approach the crowd during her performance.

‘Hunger’ is the first track to be performed to television audiences from ‘High as Hope’ – but attendees of an April show in Halifax were among the first to experience ‘Hunger’ and unreleased track ‘Sky Full of Song’ live.

The Halifax performance was the band’s first live show of 2018, and also showcased two more upcoming tracks in the form of ‘100 Years’ and ‘Patricia’. The latter of these Welch described as a “special song” and a “tribute to one of my favourite artists”.

The new music is taken from the upcoming album ‘High as Hope’, which is due for release on June 29. Welch recently spoke with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac about avoiding booze to focus on new material for the album.

In the interview she said: “It’s interesting because I think I never knew how to come down after a tour before, so I would just go on a massive bender. And I wasn’t doing that, so I just went straight back in the studio”.

Ahead of the release of ‘High as Hope’, Florence and the Machine will performing at the London Stadium May 25, where they will be supporting The Rolling Stones.
