The Rolling Stones kicked off their European tour last night with a huge show at Dublin’s Croke Park.

The performance marked their first appearance in Ireland since 2007, and saw the rock icons delivering some of their most iconic hits across 19 songs.

After opening with seminal track ‘Sympathy For The Devil’, they went straight into ‘Tumbling Dice’ from 1972’s ‘Exile On Main Street’.

The show also saw the Stones performing 1981 track ‘Neighbours’ for the first time since 2003, along with a fan-requested rendition of ‘Wild Horses’.

Addressing the Dublin crowd early on, Mick Jagger said: “Hello Ireland, hello Dublin. Dia Dhaoibh a chairde (hello my friends).

“It’s great to be here in Croker for the first time.”

Next week, the Stones begin their UK stint of the tour with two shows at the London Stadium, where they’ll be respectively supported by Liam Gallagher and Florence & The Machine.

Despite having a collective age of 254, the rock icons are showing no signs of slowing down, with Jagger recently admitting that they’re in the process of recording new music . am writing at the moment,” he told Independent IE in a recent interview.

Questioned on whether his ideas would be part of a solo release or Stones record, Jagger replied: “I’m just writing. It is mostly for the Stones at the moment”.
