The UK’s Eurovision entry for 2018, SuRie, has opened up on how she was left bruised by a stage invader on Saturday night.

As she took to the Lisbon stage on Saturday night, the singer’s performance was interrupted by a protestor who stormed the stage and stole the microphone.

Although the protestor was eventually bundled off stage and arrested, SuRie has revaled how the initial scuffle left her with minor injuries.

“Well, there’s a couple of bruises, scuffs, you know. But I’m okay”, the singer affirmed during an appearance on This Morning.

She also explained how she didn’t see the protestor until he first approached her, and how she was determined to finish the performance.

“No, there wasn’t any time to feel fear, there wasn’t,” SuRie said.

“He was suddenly there, security were on him as quick as he was on me. He got the mic for a few seconds that was out of my hands, but the song was still going, the backing vocalists were still singing, the crowd was still chanting.”

She added: “I saw the mic on the floor and I went, ‘Well, that’s mine, I’ll finish, I’ll finish this song’.”

SuRie, real name Susannah Ireland, was interrupted by a protestor who has previously attempted similar stunts at other live events including the final of The Voice.
