Interpol have shared a short documentary reflecting on their debut album ‘Turn On The Bright Lights‘.

The record was released in 2002 and, last year, the New York band celebrated its 15th anniversary by playing it in its entirety for the first time at shows around the world.

In the nearly eight-minute video, which was filmed on one of the tour stops in Mexico City, the four-piece reflect on the songs and experiences of making the record. “Carlos [D, former bassist] had a joke when we were writing ‘…Bright Lights’ that we should call the album ‘Celebrated Basslines Of The Future’,” frontman Paul Banks says at one point.

“I think that’s such a hilarious thing to suggest, but also very apropos,” he continued. “His basslines are crazy good.” Watch the full documentary above.

Meanwhile, Interpol gave an update on their forthcoming new album on Instagram earlier this week. Following some behind-the-scenes studio shots, they shared a Bowie-featuring image on their official page on the social media platform with the caption: “Mastering”.

The as-yet-untitled record follows 2014’s ‘El Pintor‘. In a four-star review, NME said at the time: “It circles back around to the sonorous, tremulous sounds of the glory days, emulating their first two albums ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’ and ‘Antics’ while adding new ideas along the way.”
