Drake warned over “bad language” by NBA following clash at basketball game
 Add to favorites

The NBA (National Basketball Association) has reportedly warned Drake over his alleged use of “bad language” at basketball games following a recent clash with player Kendrick Perkins.

An incident took place during game one of the playoff series between the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers this week, with Drake allegedly exchanging heated words with Cleveland player Perkins.

Footage has emerged of the pair confronting each other and being pulled apart, with Drake heard saying in the clip: “I never said that shit”.

Toronto Star writer Bruce Arthur later tweeted that he had heard Drake call Perkins a “fucking pussy”.

ESPN has since reported that the NBA have issued a warning to the Raptors’ over Drake’s actions and “use of bad language”. Drake serves as a Global Ambassador for Toronto and often sits courtside at their games.

Perkins told ESPN that he was “here to support my teammates” and that “at the end of the day, it isn’t about Perk versus Drake; that doesn’t even sound right. It’s the Cleveland Cavaliers versus the Toronto Raptors.”

He added: “Besides, what could he possibly do to me? I mean, really. If he leaves me alone, I’ll leave him alone, and that’s all there is.”

The Raptors lost the game 113-112 in overtime.

This went all the way into the tunnel, with Drake calling Perkins a "f—— p—-" and calling for him to come out. "I'm here in real life," he said. He was mad. https://t.co/3DJ2HBvrWN

Earlier this week, Rihanna responded to the “uncomfortable” tribute by Drake at the MTV VMAs in 2016, revealing that the pair are no longer friends.

At the 2016 MTV VMAs, Drake paid tribute to Rihanna with an introductory speech as she was handed that year’s Video Vanguard Award.

“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” Drake said at the time. “She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry.”

Speaking to Vogue, Rihanna described the moment as “uncomfortable” and said that her and Drake “don’t have a friendship now”.

“The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal,” Rihanna said.

“Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”

She added of her current relationship with Drake: “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”
