Metallica have covered A-Ha‘s ‘Take On Me’ while in Norway.

The band are currently on the European leg of their ‘Worldwired’ world tour and performed at Fornebu’s Telenor Arena on Wednesday night (May 2).

During the set, drummer Lars Ulrich and frontman James Hatfield left the stage, leaving bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett to jam. So far on the tour, the duo have been covering songs relevant to the city they are performing in each night.

“Try and guess what this is and, if you know it, sing it,” Trujillo said before dropping the cover. “Remember, this is fun – it’s a party!” After playing a burst of ‘Take On Me’, the pair then performed part of Metallica’s own ‘(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth’. Watch footage of the moment above.

The European leg of the ‘Worldwired’ tour will conclude next week (May 11) in Helsinki. The band will then resume touring in North America from September and continue into 2019.

Recently, Hammett performed the US national anthem when Metallica attended a San Francisco Giants baseball game. The band were taking part in the sixth annual ‘Metallica Night’ as the Giants went up against the Washington Nationals.

Before Ulrich threw out the first pitch, Hammett plugged into his amp and let rip with a heavy rendition of the national anthem.
