Kris Jenner has offered her first thoughts about Kanye West’s controversial comments about slavery.

Earlier this week, the rapper was roundly criticised after he described slavery as a “choice”, before later attempting to clarify his comments.

But as she appeared on Ellen yesterday, Jenner insisted that the rapper is always acting with “good intentions”.

“Kanye has a lot of love for all of you, all of his fans, and everybody who’s been there to support him forever,” Kanye’s mother-in-law told Ellen DeGeneres.

“I know that he will explain himself in his own way.”

She added: “I think that anything he does… he always does things with really good intentions. So, I’m gonna let him explain himself when the time’s ready.”

“We’re mentally imprisoned.”

The comments were roundly criticised by figures including close friend Will.I.Am, who admitted that it “broke my heart”.

“When you’re a slave, you’re owned,” the Black Eyed Peas star said on Good Morning Britain.

“You don’t choose if you’re owned. When you’re a slave you’re deprived of education. That’s not choice, that’s by force.”

He added: “I understand the need to have free thought, but if your thoughts aren’t researched, that is just going to hurt those that are still in conditions where it’s not choice.”
