“F**k YOU”: Miley Cyrus takes back apology over nude Vanity Fair photos
 Add to favorites

Miley Cyrus has retracted an apology she issued in 2008 for a series of near-nude photographs shot for Vanity Fair.

The photo, taken by iconic snapper Annie Leibowitz, prompted condemnation from critics who claimed that it was at odds with the then 15-year-old’s squeaky-clean image as the star of Disney’s Hannah Montana.

Although the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer apologised at the time of the shoot, she’s since offered a defiant rebuttal to mark 10 years of the incident.

“I’M NOT SORRY. FUCK YOU”, Cyrus wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of her apology on the front page of the New York Post.

The 2008 photo featured Cyrus wrapped in a satin sheet, with her back exposed.

In her apology, Cyrus spoke of her belief that the photo looked like she “had a big blanket on”.

“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic,’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed”, she said at the time.

“I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”

Last year, Cyrus sat down with NME to discuss the release of latest album ‘Younger Now’ and explained why didn’t go through with her plan to leave the US after the election of Donald Trump.

“I’m not f**king leaving the country, that’s some ignorant s**t, that’s dumb. Because that’s me abandoning my country when I think I’ve got a good thing to say to my country”, she admitted.

“And trust me, I hear every day on my Instagram, ‘Just leave already! When are you going to leave?’ Well, that’s not going to be any good. Does it really matter where I am? Because wherever I am, my f**king voice is gonna be heard, and I’ll make sure of it.”
