Win Butler says Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter “doesn’t like electronic music”
 Add to favorites

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has claimed that Daft Punk member Thomas Bangalter “doesn’t actually really like electronic music”.

Bangalter worked with the Canadian band on their 2017 album ‘Everything Now’, with Butler recently speaking to Song Exploder about what it was like to work with the dance music icon for their track ‘Put Your Money On Me’.

Butler described how his band worked with Bangalter at Daft Punk’s “amazing” studio in Paris, which he calls “one of the last vintage, 70s analogue studios”.

The singer continued: “You would think that Thomas is all about electronic music, [but] he doesn’t actually really like electronic music.”

Butler also described Bangalter as “very academic, deep and philosophical” and revealed that they recorded a “country version” of’ Put Your Money On Me’.

Arcade Fire are currently on a tour of Europe. During the stint so far, they have performed with the likes of Florence Welch, Jarvis Cocker, Chrissie Hynde, Simple Minds’ Jim Kerr and covered The Cranberries.

NME recently wrote of the band’s Wembley show: “Occasionally critically bowed but, live, still unbeaten… Two hours of multi-faceted 21st Century rock gig simply whoosh by… Gig of the year? It’s a takedown.”
