Eminem has revealed that he’s been sober for 10 years.

The rapper uploaded a pic to social media of his sobriety coin – something that’s rewarded to Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12 step programme users after key points in their recovery – with the caption: ‘Celebrated my 10 years yesterday’.

He’s been sober since 2008, following years of prescription drug addiction.

Celebrated my 10 years yesterday.

Back in 2011, Eminem spoke out about how the prescription drug Ambien caused him to lose huge chunks of his memory, saying it gave him a four year long stretch of writer’s block.

During the peak of his drug addiction, he revealed that he was taking up to 60 Valium and 30 Vicodin pills a day.

“The doctors told me I’d done the equivalent of four bags of heroin,” he said in 2011, talking about his 2007 methadone overdose. “They said I was about two hours from dying.”

In 2013, he opened up about his previous addictions in documentary ‘How To Make Money Selling Drugs’, which delves into the seedy world of dealing narcotics.

“I don’t know at what point exactly it started to be a problem. I just remember liking it more and more,” explains Eminem in the film.

The rapper then talks about how he never felt he had a problem with drugs as he wasn’t “out there shooting heroin”, but admits he was hooked on Vicodin, Valium and Xanax.

Meanwhile, Eminem recently played a stellar hit-packed headline show at Coachella 2018 – featuring the likes of Dr Dre, Skylar Grey, 50 Cent and more.

As well as cuts from his latest album ‘Revival’, Marshall Mathers invited friends and collaborators from throughout his career to duet.

He also brought a pop-up of ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ to the festival, after opening a restaurant inspired by the lyrics to his hit ‘Lose Yourself’ in Detroit last year.
