DJ Khaled is trying to trademark his son’s name

DJ Khaled has reportedly filed a trademark for his son’s name.

Khaled’s first-born, Asahd (meaning “lion” in Arabic), was born in October 2016 and was credited as ‘executive producer’ on the star’s latest album ‘Grateful’. Speaking to NME last year, Khaled described his son as “the youngest, biggest mogul”.

TMZ now reports that Khaled is attempting to trademark the 18 month-old’s birth name for use on a variety of products, ranging from cosmetics, clothing and video games to children’s books, pacifiers and even miniature kid cars.

Asahd recently appeared on the cover of Ocean Drive magazine. See that below.

DJ Khaled recently came under fire from Jack White, who questioned what role Khaled actually plays in his music.

The former White Stripes frontman argued that Khaled’s recent Santana-sampling hit ‘Wild Thoughts’ was “just Santana‘s song in its entirety”.

“It’s just Santana’s song in its entirety,” White told Rolling Stone, sarcastically adding: “It was nice of DJ Khaled to sit down and write and perform and record that – that was good of him! He’s an incredibly talented man. There’s no doubt about that. He does so much!”

Khaled previously responded to confusion about what he does, telling NME last year: “When I work with artists, I try to bring the greatness out of them. They’re already great, but I want the greatest… I’m in Quincy Jones mode.”
