Liam Gallagher has confirmed that he’s heading into the studio in Los Angeles to start work on the anticipated follow-up to his hugely popular debut solo record.

The former Oasis frontman will reunite with producer Greg Kurstin on the record, after the success of 2017 album ‘As You Were’ – which spawned hits including ‘For What It’s Worth’ and ‘Paper Crown’.

Posting on Twitter, Liam confirmed that he’s heading stateside next week – but he couldn’t resist a dig at the “cosmic pop” of brother Noel.

“The hills are live with the sound of LG I’m of to LA nxt Wk to start the follow up to as you were be afraid all you cosmic pop pickers Dilly Dilly as you were LG x”, he wrote.

And while it’s unclear when exactly we’ll hear the fruits of Liam’s labours – it seems that his huge summer gigs across the UK could provide the perfect opportunity.

“Maybe”, he replied when quizzed about the possibility of playing new songs at shows in Finsbury Park and Manchester’s Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

More recently, Liam took top-billing at Austria’s Snowbombing Festival, where the former Oasis man played mixed solo cuts from those of his most famous band.

“The former Oasis frontman performed his new tracks with vigour, with ‘Wall of Glass’ proving popular as a sing-along track”, our official verdict stated.

“Still, it was his Oasis hits that impressed the most, as Gallagher immersed the crowd in Britpop nostalgia. Gallagher’s solo album is a triumph, but even this man, with his enigmatic persona, can’t escape the shadow of his Oasis days. His performance of ‘Wonderwall’, in particular, during which he left the audience to sing the chorus on multiple occasions, melting the crowd into a state of wistfulness.”
