Cardi B breaks Taylor Swift’s Apple Music record
 Add to favorites

Cardi B has broken an Apple Music streaming record previously held by Taylor Swift.

The Bronx rapper released her debut album ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ last week (April 6).

In a four-star review of Cardi’s album, NME‘s Nick Levine wrote: “From stripper to chart-topper via reality TV stardom, Cardi B‘s story is enthralling and she knows it. “This some real-life fairytale Binderella shit,” she informs us on ‘Best Life’. It would be impossible to divorce her story from this debut album, because in a way, the story is the album. The Bronx rapper’s incredible ascent fuels every fabulously braggadocious bar.”

Having beaten Swift to score her first US number one with ‘Bodak Yellow’ last September, Cardi has now broken Swift’s Apple Music record for the most-streamed album by a female artist in its first week.

‘Invasion Of Privacy’ has been streamed 100 million times worldwide in the week following its release, more than doubling Swift’s previous record.

However, it’s worth noting that Swift’s album ‘Reputation’ wasn’t available on Apple Music until three weeks after it initially came out.

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj has said she was “really hurt” by an interview Cardi B gave about her.

“It really hurt me cos she looked so aggravated and angry,” Minaj said. “I felt ambushed.”

Cardi B recently denied ever having beef with Minaj, saying that fans on the internet made the whole thing up.
