Jack White has discussed how he’s unable to listen to any music other than his own when he’s recording a new album.

The former White Stripes frontman released his third solo album ‘Boarding House Reach’ in March, his follow-up to 2014’s ‘Lazaretto’.

Appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show on Thursday (April 12), White told the host that he can’t listen to his record any more because he’s already been listening to it “for a year straight”.

“You know, I can’t listen to other people’s music while I’m recording a record because I’ll start thinking about it or emulating it,” White explained.

“I don’t want to think about that world so I only listen to songs I’m working on when I work on a record. So now this [album] is out I can’t listen to it any more, because I’ve just been listening to it for a year straight.”

During the interview, White also talked about how Al Capone played a role in his new album, his days as an altar boy and made a joke about writing a children’s book called ‘Anybody Can Be President’. Watch in the clips beneath.

In a five-star review, NME wrote of White’s new album: “Jack White has finally lost the plot – and he sounds totally brilliant… he’s at last shaken off the bluesy shackles of the White Stripes and has created something wild, mysterious and unlike anything else around.”

White has made headlines recently by saying he doesn’t understand what DJ Khaled does, and that he doubts the White Stripes will ever reunite.
