Ahead of the release of the new Elton John covers album ‘Revamp’, check out exclusive behind-the-scenes videos with Queens Of The Stone Age‘s Josh Homme and Q-Tip on NME first below.

Set for release tomorrow on April 6, ‘Revamp’ boasts ‘reimagined’ versions of hits including ‘We All Fall In Love’, ‘Candle In The Wind’, and ‘Your Song’ by a host of Sir Elton’s friends and past collaborators – including The Killers, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus and Mumford & Sons. Pre-order the album here.

Queens Of The Stone Age have taken on the classic ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’, produced by Mark Ronson and featuring backing vocals with Jake Shears.

“It’s nice to pick something that may seem off kilter at first for us to do. But ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ really has the psychedelic carousel nature to it,” said QOTSA’s Josh Homme. “I think at first we thought we will tinker with the arrangement, but there’s so many beautiful chords- the chord progression is so wonderful- once you step on that carousel, it’s just this beautiful musical swirl and it’s really intoxicating to be on that carousel. And it seemed like there’s a psychedelic element that we could bring out, that it’s touching on, and that maybe the key for us to do it would be to accentuate the wispiness that is going on in the song.”

Q-Tip meanwhile, has taken on the legendary ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ with Demi Lovato.

“He’s an artist where there’s just no ceiling really,” said Q-Tip of Sir Elton. “Watching old clips of his performances and hearing his music, he’s somebody who’s astute in so many different vocations of music – whether it be rock, blues, jazz, country.

“The influence of him early on just as an artist, it was a goal. His approach and his zeal for it was an inspiration.”

The tracklist for ‘Revamp’ is:

‘Bennie And The Jets’ – Elton John, P!nk and Logic ‘We All Fall In Love Sometimes’ – Coldplay ‘I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues’ – Alessia Cara ‘Candle In The Wind (2018 Version)’ – Ed Sheeran ‘Tiny Dancer’ – Florence +The Machine ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight’ – Mumford & Sons ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’ – Mary J. Blige ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ – Q-Tip featuring Demi Lovato ‘Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters’ – The Killers ‘Daniel’ – Sam Smith ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ – Miley Cyrus ‘Your Song’ – Lady Gaga ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ – Queens of the Stone Age

Earlier this year, Queens Of The Stone Age debuted their cover of ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ live with Mark Ronson, following Sir Elton’s contribution to their acclaimed 2013 album ‘…Like Clockwork‘.

He also recorded Christmas single ‘Joseph Better You Than Me’ with The Killers in 2008, and has performed and recorded with Lady Gaga on numerous occasions.

“It’s always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it,” said Sir Elton. “As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp choose to add their own unique twist in the process.

“It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We’re humbled and thank them all for their generosity.”
